The Lake Show
Performance with Royal Blue Textile and Chair | 2014
Robert Smithson’s Photo-works inspired me to create The Lake Show with a particular focus on one of his subjects, complexity, and oppositions: nature/culture.
Intervention in a landscape site is to critique the constant urge for domination over nature, which we call culture. Shows and theatres are amongst highly participated cultural events. Placing the lake on stage is to promote its cultural value. The Lake Show is a spectacle that underscores the prevailing attitude toward nature that it is ours to enjoy and exploit. It is a show for the viewer to enjoy. No admission required!
The Lake Show is the prequel to The Intercultural Rubbish.
