Collages
I frequently find myself incorporating existing objects in my installations. Often these objects have close contact with the body. I am interested in the history and meaning of objects and the way they related to the body. My fascination with collage and assemblage, in particular, gives me an insight into the deconstruction of the body. Abstraction and geometry exhumed from the deconstructed give life to my work. I use simple existing shapes and materials to convey complex and layered meanings.
My interest in space as a matrix of things results in shifting between 2D and 3D. I utilize the principles of collage in my drawings and paintings and the concept of assemblage in my installations.
